The Blake Gallacher Acquisition

The Blake Gallacher Acquisition

In honour of Francis Vincent James Gallacher’s mother, Jane, and to commemorate Gallacher Studio’s 25th anniversary, artPost21 is pleased to announce the first Blake Gallacher Acquisition—a work of art in any medium by an emerging or mid-career artist who is not widely represented in UK public-lending collections. This year’s inaugural gift seeks to sow a seed from which we aspire to build.

The inaugural acquisition honours Gallacher’s love of both Lebanon and Armenia and the specific details of this artwork.

“Thaumaturge by Marie Zolamian is a painting that the artist conceives as a loose self-portrait intertwined with personal memories of the figure of her grandmother. Couched in melancholia, Thaumaturge seeks to reclaim the experience of longing through the transformative potential of painting. Here: memory, dream, and the pictorial field collide across multiple temporal verse and order”.-Dr. Omar Kholeif, Professor of Global Art Theory and Practice, GSA

This work is deposited in category 2 of the Dreamwork Collection.
