Collection Care

In 2025, artPost21 began working strategically to consolidate, archive, document, not only its own holdings, but also by supporting artists with practical skills-based workshops in this domain.

Since, Spring 2025, aP21 have been working with the UK-based specialist, Julia Nagle Conservationone of the most experienced names in the business of technical art history and collection care.

The focus of our collaboration is the conservation of seven historic works of modernist painting by women artists who stretch across historical geographies from Portugal to Mozambique and Iraq. This partnership will result in public research outputs as well an ongoing dialogue that seeks to bridge the gap between the curatorial and technical art history.

We will be interviewing Julia Nagle on our editorial pages in 2026, and raising funds to help us fulfill and complete our mission. At the conclusion of Stage One, we anticipate, a convening, a summons, and a series of position papers, and publication, on the nexus of theoretical and technical art historical.

Learn about Julia Nagle Conservation and take a peak at some of our “behind-the-scenes” work below.
