Studio Visit: Hannah Brown

In this summer special, artist and creative producer, Levin Haegele takes us out of the studio to the Cornwall countryside on an aural exploration with the artist, Hannah Brown. Returning to sites that are cocooned both by memory and nature, this episode explores the relationship between the site of the studio and the exploratory spaces that artists often return to. A key focus for Brown, a painter whose art explores the psychology of the English landscape are the edgelands, the in-between spaces that the body experiences through ongoing encounter with place.

Hannah Brown completed her BA in sculpture at Central St. Martins and an MA in Painting from the Royal College of Art. Brown grew up in the West Country and moved to London, where she has lived and worked since the age of 19. Brown has been shortlisted for numerous prizes including the East End Painting Prize, the John Ruskin Prize, and John Moores Painting Prize. Her work is held in collections in the UK, USA, Switzerland, Korea, and the U.A.E, as well as in public collections including the State Art Collection of Ireland, Dublin, and the Victoria and Albert Museum, London.
